Managing directors and succession

The most important appointment.
Well prepared.

Handing over the management of a company means handing over more than a position: responsibility for people, for customers and for everything built up over the years. We support owners and shareholders in this decision – discreetly, and with an entrepreneur’s understanding.

Typical situations

Three situations.
One responsibility.

01

Succession in a family business

When a family places the management of its company in other hands, the new managing director must understand both: the company and the family behind it.

02

A fresh start after an acquisition

After a change of ownership, a company needs leadership that secures continuity and shapes the new beginning.

03

Expanding the management team

As a company grows, its management grows with it: a second managing director, commercial or technical, alongside the owner.

From our own experience

We know succession
from the inside.

Since 1987, KON-PART has been passed on to the next generation of owners three times. Each handover was prepared over several years.

We bring this experience to every succession assignment: we know what a handover means for the owner and what it demands of the new leadership.

Approach

Start early.
Decide carefully.

Planning early

A succession works when it begins well before the departure. We discuss the timetable, the handover and the role of the family or the shareholders with you.

Searching discreetly

We approach suitable candidates discreetly and personally while the succession remains confidential within the company. How a first call turns into a placement

Thorough assessment

A structured candidate audit with 114 criteria, personal interviews and psychometric assessment. On request, we involve shareholders and the advisory board in the interviews.

Supporting the transition

During the first months, we remain the point of contact for both sides: the owner and the new managing director.

From our work

An example from our practice: a position we have successfully filled for a client.

Managing Director

A fresh start after an acquisition.

Following its acquisition by a group of companies, a manufacturer of equipment for the hospitality industry needed a new managing director for sales and production. The brief called for someone who combines industry knowledge, sales experience and leadership, and who would develop the company independently within the group. We filled the position.

For reasons of discretion, clients and candidates remain anonymous.
